A soon-to-be-launched digital resource will assist patients, journalists, charities and others in finding information on GP practices across England. Official figures on patient care will be gathered in an accessible format and published via the new NHS Digital GP Data Hub over the next six months.

Statistics will be available on a number of important areas, including:

  • The number of patients registered at each practice and the number of people working at each practice will be made available to users
  • Quality Outcomes Framework (QOF) data on the percentages of people suffering from different health conditions at practice, regional and CCG level
  • How well practices are managing chronic conditions and public health concerns
  • Health and care of people with learning disabilities; a recent report found that people in this group have worse health outcomes and lower life expectancy.

Dave Roberts, head of business and operational delivery for NHS Digital said: “We are delighted that the GP Data Hub will bring together a wide range of NHS Digital GP statistics into an easily accessible format.

“We see this as a really great visual tool for professionals and patients who are interested in finding out statistical information about their local GP practices and hope it will encourage more people to engage with what is going on in the primary care sector.”

The resource may be useful to pharmacies wanting to find out more about activity in their local practices.
