I’d like to say a personal hello to all of you, our members, my name is Regan English and I am the newly elected Publications Officer for 2017-2018.  This new appointment means that I will be the face in your inbox, amongst other things, for the next year.  I hope to keep up the good work of our previous Publications Officers whilst bringing about some new and exciting changes – watch this space!

This past year the Executive have provided the association with outstanding work and we, the incoming 2017-2018 Executive, elected at the BPSA 75th Annual Conference held in Durham, vow to meet and exceed your expectations during our mandate.  Before we start we thought it would be a good idea to introduce ourselves, so read on to find out more about us!

Publications Officer 2017-2018

President: Stephen Messham

Stephen is a Liverpool John Moore’s University graduate currently undertaking his pre-registration training at GSK/Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust.

Fun Fact: Stephen proposed to his girlfriend at SeaWorld Orlando – She said yes! They plan to get married in Orlando next year.

Vice President: Alastair Paterson

Alastair is a Durham University graduate due to start his pre-registration training at Newcastle trust.

Fun Fact: Alastair has hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon!

Treasurer: Bryony Drummond

Bryony is a Robert Gordon University graduate currently undertaking her pre-registration training at a split programme with Lloyds and mental health hospitals.

Fun Fact: Last year, Bryony took part in a 10K run for charity through a muddy obstacle course.

Secretary General: Tom Byrne

Tom is a University of Sunderland graduate, due to start his pre-registration training at a split programme with Leeds Teaching Hospitals and Leeds South and East Clinical Commissioning Group.

Fun Fact: Tom's memoir and accompanying mix-tapes have been a big hit in BPSA circles.

Public Relations Officer - Jessica Bland

Jess is a fourth year at Durham/Newcastle University.

Fun Fact: Jess has swam with sharks in the Galapagos.

European Officer - Matthew Brown

Matthew is a University of Nottingham graduate currently undertaking his pre-registration training at Nottingham University Hospitals.

Fun Fact: Matthew once blagged a free ride in Spain even though he can’t speak any Spanish!

Information Technology Officer: Sukhveer Singh

Sukhveer, known as Suky, is a fourth year at the University of Nottingham.

Fun Fact: Suky has never cut her hair in her whole life, measuring it at over one metre long!

Student Exchange Officer - Pride Mtetwa

Pride is a fourth year at King’s College London.

Fun Fact: Pride used to play the trumpet.

Graduate Officer - Beenish Chaudhry

Beenish is currently a pre-registration pharmacist at Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Fun Fact: Beenish once watched an entire season of Game of Thrones in one weekend, post-exams of course! She also loves a perfectly angled selfie [see left for exhibit A]

Publications Officer - Regan English

Regan is a third year at Durham/Newcastle University.

Fun Fact: Regan was once the star of a cliff side rescue… she was the one being rescued!

Educational Development Officer: Mara Gilchrist

Mara is a fourth year at Robert Gordon University.

Fun Fact: Mara's name is Gaelic for the sea.

Northern Area Coordinator: William Moore

Will is a fourth year at Durham/Newcastle University.

Fun Fact: Whales are Will’s favourite animal.

Pennine Area Coordinator: Jessica Watt

Jess is a fourth year at Keele University.

Fun fact: Jess’ favourite hobby is to play the piano.

Eastern Area Coordinator: Ramneet Gill

Ramneet, known as Rammy, is a third year at Durham/Newcastle University.

Fun Fact: Rammy has been behind Niagara Falls in Canada and seen the water crash down right in front of her!

Western Area Coordinator: Lucy Bennett

Lucy is a third year at the University of Bath.

Fun Fact: Lucy is a qualified open water scuba diver!

Southern Area Coordinator: Dildar Kawani

Dildar is a fourth year at Kingston University.

Fun Fact: Dildar was born in the mountains in Kurdistan not in a hospital, with no real doctor present!

Annual Conference Organiser: Eleanor Barrett

Eleanor is a fourth year student at Keele university.

Fun Fact: Eleanor has been four times a bridesmaid - but not married yet!

Annual Conference Organiser: Kizzie Bridgman

Kizzie is a fourth year at Keele university.

Fun Fact: Kizzie has only had five birthdays!

Competitions Coordinator: Lizzie Manton

Lizzie is a fourth year at Durham/Newcastle University.

Fun Fact: Lizzie was unwell at the top of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City- turns out she doesn't do heights!
