Annual Conference is the flagship event of the BPSA, consisting of both day and evening social events. I am pleased to announce that the 74th Annual Conference will be held in Cardiff this year. We invite you to view the Annual Conference website (http://conference.bpsa.co.uk) as well as the promotional video to give you a feel for what is to come!
Day events at Annual Conference consist of different sessions throughout the six days; the majority of the time will be spent on conference business, where motions raised by students will be debated by the delegation. Passed motions then become BPSA policy, and these define the beliefs of the Association and its members. Participating students and pre-registration trainees are able to represent up to 140 of their peers across the country as they can contribute and cast their vote on each motion.
We also have MedEx, our very own medical exhibition, where many companies and associations come to speak to our delegates. This event is organised for students and pre-registration trainees to speak to potential future employers face to face and ask them questions, find out more about the various support organisations available to them and meet the regulator and professional body. Combined with our BPSA day topic of “The Progression of the Pharmacy Profession: a snapshot of the future”, this year, we are planning to educate and raise awareness of the recent developments in pharmacy, as well as where their degree could take them in the future. There will be a 'career speed-dating' session, run by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, giving delegates the opportunity to spend one-to-one time with eminent members of the profession and question them about their future careers.
